According to John Ramsey in a documentary made of the murder:
"As I was walking through the basement I opened the door to a room and knew immediately} I found her because there was a white blanket- her eyes were closed, I feared the worst but yet- I'd found her".
Crime Library on Z links- so the police either didn't see the blanket or thought nothing of it- but not John.

For those who read the available police reports, is there an indication a cop searched the wine cellar before John did? I find it hard to believe that the family didn't search every room before calling the police. I mean if I woke up and couldn't find my 6 year old daughter I'd be searching every corner of my house. I realize the Ramsey's house is much bigger than mine, but comeon.

Etphoto, according to Perfect Murder Perfect Town, Officer Rick French, who first searched the house saw the wine cellar door latched but decided not to open it. Fleet White in an early search of the house opened the door but didn't see JonBenet in the darkness. If French had opened the door he probably would have found her, assuming policemen carry flashlights.

Thanks Bookworm, anything could have been possible that nite the crime scene was never secured and at first they thought JBR had been kidnapped. I dont understand the use of the stun gun? Whenever one is used on tv the person screams and yealls and reacts violently.

Once again there is no conclusive evidence that a stun gun was used. It's a good likely theory but it has as many detractors as it has proponents of the theory and as far as I know no official medical examiner of her has stated that a stun gun definately made those marks on her body.

Not if they're asleep. But on TV they're never used on anyone who is konked-out.

How 'bout this for a theory to explain the minor bleeding from JBR's massive, 8-10 inch head wound:

Suppose one of her parents, in a fit of anger, strangled her to death with their bare hands. Then they could have staged the garrote & done the head trauma afterwards.

The strangulation marks on her neck would have naturally been presumed to have been done by a deranged, sadistic killer using a garrote.

The autopsy photos don't show any visible marks of fingers on her neck--except the marks left by her own nails as she struggled to relieve the pressure of the cord.

The extent of the skull injury was really eye-opening. Someone exerted a lot of force to do that.

I don't know what it means, but it seems there was some over kill here. 6 year olds don't make good witnesses unless they know the killer.

Where in the house was the head-smash to JonBenet made? In the basement where she was found?

I know there was very little bleeding from it, but they still should be able to tell where that particualar attack occured. There must have been considerable blood splattering for several feet from her head when the blow fell. As well as blood seepage before she was picked up & moved- if it happened at another location in the house.

The blow was rendered with an object that had no sharp edges--there was little or no bleeding from the scalp.

Well, if I could squeeze in a last thought, and certain thread killer to boot:

The Ballad of John Mark Karr

(apologies to Earl Scuggs and Lester Flatts)

Come and listen to a story about a man named Karr
A poor pedophile who was forced to teach afar
Then one day he was hustlin’ up some dude,
When up from the past jumped some troublin’ news.

Homicide that is, beauty pageants, fel-on-y.

Well the first thing you know ol’ Karr’s a cause celebre
Sin-folk say, John move away from here.
Said Californy is the place you ought to flee,
So the loaded up an Airbus with first class amenities.

Lobsters, that is.
Mini-bottles, in flight mo-vies.

Well now its time to say good-bye to Karr and all the G-Men
And they would like to thank you folks for kindly suckerin’ in.
You’re all invited back again to this locality,
To have a heapin’ helpin’ of their incomp-e-tency.

Cold case that is. Set a spell. Take your gumshoes off. Y’all will come back now, y’hear.

Very good but it should have been in the Ramsey Case Suspect thread to be at thread killer.
This is the Ramsey case thread which will likely have no forseeable end.

Man, Karr was lucky to get out of Thailand before the coup. Just think what those new people who are trying to clean up the country would have done to him!

I hope Sonoma County treats him well.

Warren--I like your song. Can you do "The Ballad of John Mark Karr"?

Latest I heard from Court TV:

Karr may get off in Ca. because of LE error.
Something about loss of computer data.

They've lost the original PC that supposedly had the illicit material on its hard drive. Now they're offering him a plea bargain to dismiss three of the charges if he'll plead guilty to the other two, and be given credit for time already served. The deal, if accepted, would involve no prison time.

My little lawyer pea brain tells me they don't have a case. Of course, he's a real delight to a defense attorney, confessing to everying in sight.

I read all that too. Karr should have a tattoo put on his forehead, just for all of his statements about Jon Benet being hung while he performed oral sex on her. Forget the hard drive, would you want this sicko living next to you, based on his statements? He stated he was in "Love" with her!--How about San Quentin?

Sonoma prosecuters offered him a plea deal that he rejected.
It would have him plead guilty to two of the five charges and the other three would be dropped and would recieve three years probation, be released from jail immediately and be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The computer itself that they confiscated has not been found but the hard drive from it was copied and copies of the images from it still exist.
