Here's a link to the update.

This is one big joke, right, Mr. I'm_Not_Tom_ Voigt?

Because otherwise, it explains how the chicken blood got onto Allen's knife.

If not a joke--are you at liberty to divulge just how and where you came by it?

J Eric, those are actual scans of actual recipes actually prepared by Arthur Leigh Allen on his actual typewriter.

As far as where I obtained them, I don't have permission to reveal my source. However, they are 100% legit.

Bizarre.

Did you get access to any other recipes, or is this it?

I don't care much for poultry.

I notice a particular key that is distinctive. Anyone else see it?

the sense of humor sure matches the zodiac letters even if the dna found on the stamp don't.

I think Martha should have scolded Allen. I got a kick out of all his slopping, sloshing, glopping, flopping etc. What?? no chipmunk recipes?? I figure he'd have prepared squirrel, bats, snakes, or whatever he could find.

With apologies for doubting you, Tom!

I see blackbirds, Vivid-Imagination...beer...
"riled up"...skin divers...but why do the recipes serve 6? Did ALA cook for his family these delectable dishes? BTW, recipes are rather complex. Some ZodiacTaskForceGetTogether Day, maybe we should try to cook one up? No expert here, but they seem to be generally accurate as to ingredients.

What I see in typing is a similarity to the Riverside Press Enterprise letter (Bates).

I was sort of hoping the last entry would be for mixing fertilizer and stove oil...

Well, I first thought I was on to something. The "/" looked distinctive. But the Confession Letter and even the Hautz letter don't seem to have one. Oh well.

BTW - At a gun show today, I actually found a Zodiac watch. It was not the diver's model, but a regular man's watch with a red leather band. Looked like an old Rolex "bubble watch" and had the cross hair symbol below 12 o'clock. On the back, at about the 12 position on the stainless steel was the Zodiac emblem for Libra (the scales - my sign). I wonder if they had a different symbol on the back of each watch for each month.
The guy wanted $199.00. If any body wants to pay that let me know. Tomorrow is last day of the show and I have a hellashish poker game beginning at 3pm central standard, complete with drink girls, so I am tied up after that. If that watch had been a hundred, I would have bought it.

"Riled up" is a Zodiac usage. That aside, one critical difference between Allen and Zodiac is that Allen writes in a fairly unbuttoned style, with a genuine sense of humor, as opposed to the straightforward, to-the-point style and dry, barren attempts at wit typical of Zodiac.

Did Allen ever work with Boy Scouts as a Den Leader or some such? Just curious; the recipes almost sound like the sort of thing to share with kids, accurate but also for a laugh. There have been incidents where perverts had been Scouting volunteers until discovered...

Most of the recipes serve 6. In trying to make one for myself alone, I had to cut everything to 1/6. The thought occurred to me that it's like trying to cut up a circle (360 degrees) into radian angles.

My take is that Allen didn't always write "unbuttoned with a genuine sense of humor," just as I'm sure Zodiac wasn't always "straightforward, to-the-point and dry."

You are correct Tom.And we should not try to make a forced fit of a pet suspect to match Zs publicity oriented letters or what HE wanted the police and public to think about him.
After carefully re-examining all of Zs letters one can see he did exhibit change, including his sense of humor(aside from its grim darkness).
ALA-or any suspect, would not be expected to show all of his personality, just as Z wasn't going to reveal his actual personality per se.
No,ALA isn't ruled out on the basis of what Z WANTED us to SEE in his letters!
He wrote for show and his own self serving interests, using innocent people as a means to gain publicity,etc..
