Zodiackiller.com Message Board: General Zodiac Discussion: Gift From Zodiac ?

In a VPD report dated 6/19/70 it states that while searching for a missing boy in the area of the Little League ball park a woman called by the name of Joan Smith(not real name)and said that she received in the mail a letter addressed to her husband bearing a June 18 Vallejo postmark. Inside of the envelope were two tickets to the"...Oakland A's baseball game for 6/20 ,tickets were wrapped in a piece of paper with the words ,GIFT FROM ZODIAC...There is a slight similarity between writing in letter and samples of Zodiac hand writing."Maybe our Archivist Ed.N has follow up articles. Are the tickets from Z or it it a prank? Was the timing of the letter meant to refer to the search for the boy and the baseball tickets speak of a 'father/son outing' to a game?Joseph Bates received a note concerning his daughter.I just checked with my Ephermeris and June 19th 1970 was the full moon!Z -as some papers said -left a 'baseball type score'at the end of some of his letters. A caller claiming to be Zodiac called the Oakland PD at 2:00 a.m. on 10/22/69(moon on Equater-considered "phenomena" in astrology.I discovered this factor in numerous Z letter/murder dates. For ex. BRS).FYI-my guy had coached Little league, was alienated from his father and M said that children would have to be killed to help start the Revolution(also school bus threat)!

Also June 19, 1970 the moon was in Capricorn and on 10/22/69 the moon was in Aries. Both Cardinal signs.

Hurley- I knew that, but the "full moon"info is enough to label an analysis of a crime and /or letter date "esoteric'!We are only looking through the eyes of someone who- no doubt- knew astrology and was employing it's techniques for his own purposes.Whether we agree astrology "works" or doesn't work is not the issue here.Did Zodiac believe it worked for him is the issue.

Zodiac Expert Dave Peterson said Zodiac's interest in astrology and the occult is an important clue and may someday be part of any analysis of a good suspect.Finding books on the subject and possibly charts, etc.in the suspects possession would be a valuable tool in an investigation.

Investigating his friends and associates would yield good info as to whether the suspect studied astrology/occult and this could lead to who taught him and/or what books did he read on these subjects.

I have letters showing that in private certain detectives were interested in any info dealing with Zodiac and his interest in astrology and the occult in general. In this case it was the professional thing to do!This is why Peterson and I learned all we could on these subjects-it is a MUST in the ZODIAC case!

I believe you and Dave P are right about the astrology - occult link in the Zodiac case for sure! When the "Process" left England, could that be the Process that had a address on Cole street in S.F.? Not far from Manson, and Paul Stine in the late 60s? Darlene had a interest in both,so did I. Like myself, I don't think she knew just how dark the dark side was, and when she found out she wanted out. I do believe she knew about something very dangerous and was killed for it. The others were killed to make it look random, but like a chicken killing wolf, he could not stop. I also believe he is still alive and killing, but has changed his mo as far as using the name Zodiac. Out there is a killer still taunting the police with phone calls, and leaving notes, using different methods each time.Still getting his ideas from movies and books, because his own brain is obviously damaged!

Aloha All,
I'm new to the message board but having grown up in Santa Rosa, Ca., I'm familier with the Z case. Having always thought that the murders were by 1 insane person,in the last couple of years been thinking along the lines of 2 or more creeps invoved, hence the case's apparent unsolveability.I find Sandy's & Pam Huckabee's posts to be fascinating as they are geographically & by relation respectivly closer to the case than most, however almost everyones postings & different theories are interesting. Regarding Pam's post under 'Other suspects;Mike Mageau' on Jan. 10th, the patterend material givin to Darlene supposidly by Graysmiths 'Andrew Todd Walker' for her to wear on July 4th sparked my interest.I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but what if the jumpsuit made from the patterend material was (not to Darlene's knowledge) worn so the killer could identify her(hence the little brown car at BRS being there when they pulled in,leaving, then returning to commit the crime) after the murder of Bettylou Jensen 6 mos. before was a case of the killer mistaking BLJ for Darlene. If you go to Jake's web page under victims photos,You'll notice BLJ & Darlene Ferrin bear a striking resemblence. Then either to cover up make it look like random serial killings, or the killer got carried away and made game of it.(Pun not intended).I agree with those who believe this mystery revolves around Darlene. Thanks for the site Tom.

Tony- I to believe there was more than one person and that they were not all local and this is one reason the case was not solved at that time.See my soon to be enlarged Zodiac site at:www.zodiacmurders.com .Welcome! I was only on the islands once ,but I loved it!

Sandy-Yes, 407 Cole St.in Haight -Ashbury. This was up to December 1967. Manson lived at 636 Cole St. at this time and this was about two blocks away! This is when Manson had his first contact with the Process. You are the first real witness to show that Darlene was interested in the Process-I had always speculated about this ! Davis had an intense interest in the Process also and was in S.F.at the time Darlene was there.Give us anything you have relative to Darlene's interest in the Process.

Paul Stine lived at 615 Cole St. in ca. 1965-66, which was across the street and (I think) two doors over from where the Family would live starting in late March/early April to July 1967. Stine moved to 1842 Fell St. in 1966.

I also found a story (I'll have to check my files to get the date etc) that mentioned Toschi and Armstrong investigating a homicide at 615 Cole St. after Stine had moved. With the Process at 407 Cole, it sure makes for a small world, doesn't it? Another case of zynchronicity...

Howard most of it is hear say, Darlene and I never sat and talked. I worked at the clubs she hung out at, and I went to terry's and Mr. Eds after work to eat and meet with friends. I was told by her sister Pam, most of what I know about Darlene, and what little Buzz and Steve Baldino have told me. I have also found one of the people who waited for Darlene to come home to the July 4th party that night.I am not sure of his name, but I know how to find him. If you would like to talk to him let me know. As far as the cult thing, I was told that a black cape was found in her closet. That she had to keep the candles in the skulls burning, if they blew out, she would die! And that she had a interest in the unknown. This was just part of those times, at that time, it was not so odd, it was referred as hip! Antioch has a satanic cult going on, I was told it is a very dangerous one, and is "supposed" to be very secret. The young person who told me that, was ran over in LasVegas a few years back. He said he was in that cult for a while but had to get out.I tried to find out more about it, because I felt "the" suspect who was bothering Pam and I, may have something to do with it. I found it hard to believe he would drive so far, just to play games with Pam and I. Something else, or someone else drew him here. Cult like things were left at our homes, burnt upside down cross's, dead cats, circle of paint.Wholes in a row ... ... ... I added it together and came up with 369 ? March 69 would of been Dees B.D. or was it the 3 he killed in 69? Could it be the backwards clock? On the wall at the corner where I live in large red letters was, 7 in arow (sic). The number 7 seems to a clue, also the number 3, when he calls it is three times in a row. it dawned on me one day, the number 3 on the phone was DEF Darlene E. Ferrin. All the clues he has left, points to Darlene. Pam is right, Dee is the key to the z case!

Ed , Stine also moved from one apt. to another at the same address on Cole st, I think it was apt 9 to apt 10 or vice a versa . It would be interesting to find out why. Then he is shot with a 9mil.
