DNA from Crime Scenes other than Bates

Zodiackiller.com Message Board: General Zodiac Discussion: DNA from Crime Scenes other than Bates

Has anyone gone back to check for latent DNA on any other Z artifacts or crime scenes. I am specifically think the Stine shirt samples might be helpful. Remember these were in Z's possession for some time after the crime and I am sure he did not do anything to alter them for he wanted the Blood proof to assure he was given credit for the crime. I originally posted this in the ALA:Case against Allen thread but I feel this may need a new specific thread for it seems the only DNA investigations involved Bates but this Technology may help with other Z crimes as well.

What else is there in the way of potential DNA evidence? I am aware of possible saliva residue from the letters, and the fragments of Stine's shirt, but is there anything else that could possibly yield a result? I'm sure there is something, but it seems to be eluding me at the moment.
In regards to Stine's shirt, I don't think Z would have been too careful while handling it. The idea of DNA evidence would have been, at that time, virtually inconceivable to most people (true visionaries exepted, of course). This is what makes DNA testing such a powerful weapon in regard to "cold cases".
This is just a "pipe dream", but wouldn't it have been nice to use this technology back in the day? Imagine having the ability to test the blood on the blade of the knife that Allen had in the car shortly after Berryessa? Would have saved us a lot of time (all legalities and issues of due process aside, of course).

p.s. Penn in 2004. Ride the scud!

I agree that Z was not careful in his handling of anything since all of our technology was undiscovered back then. It seems nearly impossible that anyone could get away with such a thing nowadays, although Z probably would have tried it anyway. With all we have now, it seems possible that this case may be solved eventually.
Oscar, it's good to see you're still around! Every time I see one of your posts I laugh! Jenn

Jenn, I am still round. I have maintained all along that Z was not the nefarious Sax Rohmer-type arch fiend that many make him out to be, but I would never go so far as to say, or even imply that he was not cautious. He was, but he did screw up. That being said, i can't think of too many other high profile killers who committed the kind of mayhem that Z did while also leaving so few evidential 'scraps'.
For all we know, Z could still be active...the world's oldest serial killer, although I am reluctant to use this term in regards to Z.

I may get stale at times, but I'm always round.

Dare I say Unabomber. His letters, his bombs. He'd probably still be around had his brother not turned him in.

Hurley, you dare not say Unabomber. Everyone "knows" there's not an iota of evidence connecting him to Z. Even people who don't know know. It's how they show their erudition.

In regards to DNA testing what about the green bottle found at LB? Has it ever been determined that the bottle was actually z's?

Douglas, why do you think I am connecting the Unabomber to Zodiac? I was merely pointing out that in our age of advanced technology, the only thing that brought the Unabomber down was his brother.

I personally don't think that the Unabomber was Zodiac.

Hurley, it's called irony. In the words of the immortal Baldrick (Black Adder) "it's like goldie or bronzie, only it's made out of iron."
