Pipe Bomb Suspect - Zodiac Reader?

Zodiackiller.com Message Board: Zodiac Media: Pipe Bomb Suspect - Zodiac Reader?

I just read an article that the mailbox pipe bomb suspect, Luke Helder (21 years old), had been arrested. The FBI was given a copy of a 7-page letter received over the weekend by a Wisconsin college newspaper, signed with Helder's name. The letter's first page was identical to the anti-government notes found with the bombs. The letter also said, in part: "I will die/change in the end for this, but that's ok, hahaha paradise awaits!"

Sounds like he's been reading up on the Zodiac...I wonder if there was any influence there?

I heard that the placing of the bombs formed a circle on a map ?

I hadn't heard that yet, Zander; however, additional information on the letters he had written say that there was a theme to the notes which say, "To 'live' (avoid death) in society you are forced to conform/slave away. I'm here to help you realize/understand that you will live no matter what!" Now this part resembles ideas from the Unabomber's Manifesto in which TK discusses oversocialization as it relates to "…being trained to think and act as society demands."

Helder also had a Website for his band, Apathy. He wrote within, "I party, play guitar, and talk online to everyone. That's my life."

Maybe he's been a visitor to Tom's site here or possibly alt.fan.Unabomber…

With information only now surfacing on this suspect, it appears, at least on the surface, that he's been influenced by some well-publicized, nefarious crimes.

Helder sounds very much like a severely disaffected person who might also be suffering from mental illness. The sense that one has lost control in one's life is a classic sign of disaffected personality. Note how Zodiac tells Melvin Belli "I am afraid I will lose control again ...." and "I can not remain in control ...." The correspondences complement the violence and afford the disaffected person an opportunity to "be someone." It's an antidote to the sense of obscurity and loss of control in his life. The perpetrator strikes out at a class of people who symbolize for him the source of his disaffection.

"Sounds like he's been reading up on the Zodiac"
Because "paradise awaits"?
I'm gonna love watching this thread . . .

Speaking of which, Peter, the one thing I'm heartily sick of in regards to this case is the use of freewheeling association by some people--you know who you are! Concepts such as "Zodiac mentioned slaves in Paradice; paradice equals "pair of dice"; pair of dice = gambler; "The Gambler" was a popular song performed by Kenny Rogers, Kenny Rogers = Mister Rogers = someone who liked children; someone who likes children is a pedophile and everyone knows that Arthur Allen was a pedophile; ergo ..." If I had an antimonial disposition I'd tell these people where to go, but I don't like to hurt their feelings so I just ignore them.

Does anyone know the address to this dude's website?

It's been shut down for violating the TOS of the Lycos network. However, you can use the internet archive to see the site as it was when it was last updated (minus pictures/graphics).

Go to http://www.archive.org and enter the following web address into the box listed under "Wayback Machine":

I have to agree with Doug (and Peter), though, that this free association stuff is a little irritating. Although I am starting to miss the nearly-incomprehensible rantings of Bookworm.

Actually, this'll be an easier way to get to the page:
