California's Zodiac killer was being discussed today on the News. It seems the maniac that abducted, raped and killed Samantha Runnion left some sort of "calling card." The battered body of this beautiful child was found in Riverside Co. The investigator speaking surmised that the perp of this horrific crime left some sort of Zodiacesque communication.

Where exactly was this reference? Newspaper, radio, television, Internet?

I think you're reading it incorrectly, Sylvie. The authorities (I believe the FBI) opined that the manner and location in which the body was placed suggested that the perpetrator was announcing his intention to strike again, hence the term "calling card." Frankly, I doubt it. The location appears to have been quite remote. However, they may know something I don't.

According to several stories I've read, the child's body was left "in a forest". Well, I've seen video of the crime scene, and that ain't no forest; it's a desert...and just a few feet from the freeway.

I just want to know if anyone mentioned the name "Zodiac", as Sylvie stated. And if so, who?

The expert definitely mentioned Zodiac by name and briefly discussed his crimes. It was on MSNBC at about 1 pm.
I know the area very well. It is only about a 1/2 drive from my home. I have been hiking there, and it is just above lake. I can tell you it is not remote by any means and is a trail frequented daily by hikers and hang gliders. Hence the reason her body was found so quickly.
What's more her body was in plain view, not covered in any way.
One bizarre thing - the trail is called KILLEN Trail.
The Sherif is adamant that this is a serial killer...the question posed was how would they know that? The answer was that the killer left (literally) a correspondence a la Zodiac stating his intentions, and that this is something withheld by police.
Thus the emphatic warning by police.

I find it hard to believe that Zodiac is able to rape anyone. Unless of course a foreign object was used, like in the Ramsey case. We were just down to Riverside not long ago looking into the Bates killing,we were in the Riverside news paper. If it was him, that would be his way of telling us to back off of this case. I was in the car with Ed the day we were leaving,Ed saw a man who looked like my suspect, looking at us. The man gave a nod and drove past,I didn't get to see the man. Leaving her body where it was found, and on a trail with that name is very Z like.If he did infact leave a z like note,he wants us to take the blame for this crime. That is how he thinks ,he is sick and insane.

Did any of you take notice of how accurately Samantha's little 5 yr. old friend described the perp? The composite was really very good, esp. considering she saw the abductor for just seconds at dusk.
She even had the decription correct down to his "powder blue shirt" and "chrome plated tires".
This supports what I was saying about Jeannie Boylan reporting that children and teens make the very best witnesses when it comes to composites.
Just another reason why I believe the teens at PH saw what they said they saw. Period.

Sylvie. I did notice. And you're absolutely correct...children are most always excellent witnesses. It makes me wonder why this method was not utilized in the Elizabeth Smart case. I understand that the parents were in touch with the FBI sketch artist, but that another member of the family did not want it done. There's a piece of the puzzle missing in that case, for sure.
