WHY DID THE ZODIAC KILLER CALL HIMSELF "THE RED PHANTOM" IN A 1974 LETTER?
Exclusive to Zodiackiller.com

Back in the early 1970s, Zodiac suspects Rick Marshall and Richard Gaikowski both ran movie theaters in the Bay Area of California; Marshall operated "The Port" in small Mill Valley (Marin County) and Gaikowski operated an obscure storefront theater in the Mission District of San Francisco, eventually moving on to the Roxie theater. (Gaikowski died in 2004 and Marshall died in 2008.)

Below are three views of a film schedule for the Port theater from April 1974, which I acquired through my Zodiac case research. El Espectro Rojo aka The Red Phantom played on the 27th and 28th of the month. Less than three months later, the Zodiac mailed a letter from Marin County in which he called himself "The Red Phantom." Zodiac had never previously used that moniker, or mailed a letter from Marin County.

THIS ZODIACKILLER.COM UPDATE IS THE FIRST PROOF EVER ESTABLISHED THAT EL ESPECTRO ROJO PLAYED IN THE BAY AREA PRIOR TO THE ZODIAC'S LETTER

(See Rick Marshall's signed article in the image at below right where he mentions the recent drop in attendance for his films.)

MARSHALL'S ORGANIST AT THE PORT, BOB VAUGHN, WENT ON TO PERFORM AT GAIKOWSKI'S ROXIE, PROVIDING A STRONG LINK BETWEEN THEM

Was Marshall the Zodiac? Were he and Gaikowski a team? Or was Gaikowski -- a movie buff -- driving to Marshall's theater, 30 minutes north of his home in San Francisco? Is it why Isobel Watson was stabbed in Mill Valley back in 1972 by a man the police thought could have been the Zodiac? Or, was Zodiac not Gaikowski or Marshall, but one of the few patrons remaining at Marshall's theater? Could Zodiac's use of the "Red Phantom" name and Marin postmark be a simple coincidence?
